Pastoral NewsSt Matthew, Winchester: Revd Peter Seal, Priest in Charge of Winchester St Matthew, has been appointed Incumbent. He will be Collated by the Bishop of Winchester on Sunday 25 July at 9.30am at St Paul’s Church. St Lawrence with St Maurice with St Swithun-upon-Kingsgate, Winchester: Revd Canon Dr David Scott has announced that he will take early retirement in September. On his retirement a pastoral scheme agreed in 2008 will take effect and create a united benefice with St Bartholomew, Hyde, to be called “St Bartholomew and St Lawrence with St Swithun-upon-Kingsgate” (the name of St Maurice will be dropped from the title, as that church was demolished in 1957). Revd Canon Cliff Bannister, priest-in-charge of St Bartholomew, Hyde, is expected to become the first incumbent of the new benefice. Bishop of Basingstoke: The next Bishop of Basingstoke has been announced by Downing Street as the Venerable Peter Hancock, currently Archdeacon of the Meon in the Diocese of Portsmouth. He will be consecrated on 21 September 2010 in St Paul’s Cathedral, London. He will bid a formal farewell to Portsmouth Diocese at Portsmouth Cathedral at 6pm on 5 September and then be welcomed into the Diocese of Winchester at Winchester Cathedral on 2 October 2010. Twyford and Owslebury and Morestead and Colden Common: Revd Andy Millar has announced that he will retire on 14 November. Deanery Standing and Pastoral CommitteeAt present the Standing and Pastoral Committees are combined in the same group, but that may change. The current members are: Revd Alan Gordon (Rural Dean), Simon Swindells (Deanery Lay Chairman), Hugh Podger (Finance Committee Chairman), Sheila Lees (Deanery Treasurer), John Stanning (Deanery Synod Secretary), Paul Kennedy (Chapter Clerk), Stephen Adam and Rob Smith.
Deanery Finance CommitteeFollowing agreement of the Finance Committee terms of reference at the Synod meeting on 10 February 2009, the current members are: Hugh Podger (Chairman), Revd Alan Gordon (Rural Dean), Simon Swindells (Deanery Lay Chairman), Paul Draper, Charlie Goodall, Nick Goulding, Paul Kennedy and Martin Reid, with one vacancy.
